3 Fingers West.

Here it is finally.  It seems like only yesterday we were bunked up in Los Angeles in this beautiful home with borrowed ladders, waiting for the paint to be delivered.  We especially love this part,

"For the master bedroom, heretofore pristine white, she went with hot pink. What? Absolutely. It was love at first sight for Callahan and Hernandez. Starting by the foot of the bed, she painted a wide band  of pink from wall to ceiling. Actually, more accurately, her contractors from New York did the painting. She flew them in to ensure precision—no blurring of lines chanced in a room where an architect would be sleeping."

Thanks GV team, Chet and Jacinto.  Photos by Eric Laignel and Art Gray.

Interior Design Magazine New York Issue

Just wanted to share our gratitude to be gracing the pages of Interior Design for the 3rd time in 3 years on yet another collaboration with Ghislaine Viñas Interiors.  The first and last pages of the article depicted below:

In addition to these precision master bedroom stripes we steamrolled this deer painting with, we painted the entire apartment including the snazzy stripe embellishment in the looooong hallway that lines up with a custom runner, turning the front door into a chalkboard, and hanging the kitchen and entry wallpapers...

Hello Deer

Probably the most outlandish request we've had to date-- and soooo much fun to make it happen!  Thanks to Eric Ronning & Family and of course, Ghislaine Viñas Interiors for continuing to play with us.

The wall came first... and then, modification of this painting to unify the look.

Here's a tiny post of how the photoshopped mockup compares to the real thing

Thumbtack and what we think...

Here's a link to our Thumbtack page...

Painting, Skim Coating & Wallpaper

This site is a good idea as a means of compiling contractors for consumer review, BUT we've never found it necessary to pay for the privilege of merely submitting a quote to a prospective client.  We already provide free estimates and people usually inquire directly.  If Thumbtack could come up with a way to simply take a commission-- like a referral fee, for jobs that were actually awarded via their website, then we'd be talking about a valuable offer of interest!

The House of Tarlow

Here's an article featuring the living/dining room we collaborated on with Andrew and Kate last summer:

This effect was created by carefully shaping and scraping out the center oval to reveal what was existing.  We then sealed that surface with General Finishes before working our paint wizardry  over some very tricky plaster crown moldings.  Walls courtesy of Benjamin Moore, ceiling border courtesy of Farrow & Ball (Olive)

Silverlake 2011

Hello out there. Sope and I have been doing a bunch of good old fashioned painting with the crew over at Marlow & Sons/Diner this year. We are proud to have just donated to a great new project they're working on that we feel really good about getting behind. Check out this link, the sweet video & please consider being a part of it before time runs out. Every little bit helps!

Wow.  We know it's been quite some time since our last post.  We've been busy building snowmen, well mostly digging out Sassy (our van), and keeping cool checking out what's in the meat locker at Marlow and Daughters (we just did an all nighter there).

Check it out.  One of our favorite designers has just been featured on Apartment Therapy's New York City Apartments.
We love seeing what Carly does with the space once we've finished painting the walls and hanging the wallpaper!  See for yourself and tell us what you think.
